River’s Rest
Some time ago I went on a silent retreat to spend some dedicated time with God. After a hike in the woods, I rested at the edge of a large creek. As I sat quietly there, I sensed a deep peace I had not felt in a long time.
My busy life had caused separation between me and God. Maybe you can relate.
After a bit, part of this poem came to me. The river represents our busy lives and land represents the special place we can go to be with God.

River's Rest
/
The current runs consistently
That's all it knows to do and be
But on the land I can be still
Release my cares and start to heal
/
Removed from busy water's flow
My soul transitions space to pause and slow
Spirit soothes while rapids run
Burdens lifted, every one.
/
Sitting at the river's side
Such a peaceful spot to bide
From the busy moving world
Where currents run and eddies swirl
/
I'm daily in the river race
Working hard at break-neck pace
Moving to and fro with speed
Absent of my Father's creed
/
Today He said "go swim to land"
Where His rest surpasses grand!!
It’s God I truly yearn today
Grateful Lord I got away.
