Shadows of the Heart

Do you wonder if you have a good heart?

If you are a follower of Christ, you know that Ezekiel 36:26 says to the righteous “I have removed your heart of stone and given you a heart of flesh (a new heart)”.

Yet even as a Christian, our ego, pride, selfish ambitions and addictive behaviors can cast a shadow over our parts of our heart….keeping us from living out of the beautiful heart God has given us.

If you have surrendered your life to Jesus, then you will have a new heart.

Brand new.

I encourage you to search your own heart and ask God to search your heart as King David did.

If you want a new heart, just stop now and surrender your entire being to Him and ask Him to remove your heart of stone for His heart of flesh.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139: 23-24 (NIV)

Shadows of the Heart

Unearthing shadows in my heart

Knowing well this is my part

To face a sometimes checkered past

Certain I've no stones to cast

/

I must confront my wounded side

This barren grave I cannot hide

Oh gloomy shadows of my heart

I yearn to have a brand new start

/

With former ways and thoughts nearby

Through joyless tears, I now ask why

Then scream for help to cease my ways

My prayers arise, my soul's ablaze

/

Oh turn away and shun those days

See His light beyond the haze

At last my soul now feels a breeze

Not me, but Him, I want to please

/

Thankful for my reckoning

Now I'm filled, my heart can sing

Life's past wounds can't hold me back

In God's great Hand, I have no lack
