How do I trust God?

Follow the Light: A Christian Poem About Ego, Faith, and Surrender

Much of life comes down to this choice: my way or God’s way.

My ego says, “I’m right, and I deserve A, B, or C!”

But God, steady and unwavering, invites me to trust Him instead.

Faith whispers, “I trust You, God. In humility, I turn to You.”

With that thought in mind, I wrote this poem, Follow the Light, about the death of ego.

It’s a prayer of surrender, asking God to guide us, to reshape us, and to lift us out of ourselves. May it encourage you to let go of ego and embrace His love."

Follow the Light

Will I succumb to heaven's light

That opens doors and gives me sight?

Or will I live in patterns deep

And stay near home my soul to sleep?

~

Will ego reign and be my life

Or will I let Him use His knife

To cut away my surface self

To welcome pain for needed health

~

I must now drop my hidden wrath

And bend my will along His path

To calmly follow His kind voice

To let Him guide and make the choice

~

Oh God please be my truest self

Set me on Your higher shelf

Let me know Your heart today

Let me live Your sacred way

Where ego lifts like morning mist

All because my soul was kissed
