Become a Child: Returning to the Father’s Arms
In a world that celebrates independence and strength, Jesus invites us to something that’s a sharp contrast - to become as a child. Childlike faith may seem naive or weak, but it’s more about strength of trust.
It’s laying down our self-sufficiency, our strength, and our doubts and running joyfully into the Father’s arms, just like a little child would.
This poem reminds us that spiritual maturity often looks like returning to the innocence we once knew—where faith is pure, joy is simple, and God’s love feels near.
Become a Child
And as a child so shall I be
Crawling to the Father's knee
With no strength to make my way
Born to fall and and often stray
/
Now innocence is how I come
With no pride in what I've done
Where fear and power were my path
And anger served to spew my wrath
/
And now with joy I run to Him
Let Him fill me to the rim
And let the echos of my past
Disappear and break the cast
/
I turn to Him like needy child
My once rough edges now are mild
Dependent on the One who gives
So child-like faith forever lives

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
